My Birthday morning started off with testing out my tire with a speedy drive for 2 hours. Since I had to cut my cotter pin to get my nut off, I used a little stick to insert where the metal cotter pin was. Yes I know it would just snap off….It was a way to see if the nut was going to loosen under hard riding.

I’ll tell you something…..when a tire blows under you on a bike slowing from 100, your confidence gets rattled. But after 2 hours things started to settle. There were a few stops to see if everything was still tight, but by the end of the 2 hours it started to loosen. At the hardware store I was able to get a cotter pin and everything is just great. 65 cents can make all the difference.

Next was to check and plot course for next trail.

We left the highway and headed up into the foot hills. The terrain changed from corner to corner giving us constant new riding challenges. Every time we thought we mastered it….something new jumped out.

The road coiled the jagged rock like a snake around its victims neck. Beautiful, yet somehow dangerous.

We climbed slowly for hours filming and taking photos. Smiles from ear to ear…..however not knowing what lay ahead.
