Blog went down. Lost all my writing and pictures so I’m upset. Oh well…. Life goes on.
We rode on some great trails into high passes (6450ft). Almost got lost.
End on a trail that had this red clay … Which looked awesome until it got really wet. 10 miles in 1 hour seems like a lifetime when you don’t know if your going the right way. (We had already traveled 35miles). Add to it, that we couldn’t turn back cause we wouldn’t be able to make it up the slopes. Very stressful.
Then I hear over the com…Brian’s down. He lost control in the crappy awesomeness and ended into the ditch. Only the back wheel was up.
I tell you I was thinking I was going to be walking back 45 miles in red clay awesomeness to somehow get help to drag out a body and bike.
On my birthday!!!! Not on my watch.
Like I took off the nut on my axel with my bare hands the day before (when my tire blew) ;•)……I pulled the bike out of the ditch with my raw power grrrrr. Oh and a little help from Brian.
No damage to bike or Brian…other than ego. Oh and he wouldn’t let me take a picture for you guys. How rude!
The mind plays tricks…ok on me it did. No water and only 3 granola bars, tent, sleeping bags and 100 k of gas and no idea if we’re heading right. Even if we could turn back, the fuel range is now being compromise. Yet we pressed on. And as fate would have it…..better road and some houses. A little more time and, yes, the highway.
It’s amazing how fast the swagger returned from that frightened child hiding under the sheets of red clay awesomeness. 2.5 seconds.
“Cool”!!!!! And “best ride ever!”
